Nominations are now open for the Tom Tom Founders Festival’s third annual Founding Cville Award. The award honors contemporary Charlottesville founders who “embody the Jeffersonian spirit of multidisciplinary creativity” in art, business and civic leadership. Portraits of these founders will hang from the lampposts lining the Downtown Mall throughout the month of September. The public is encouraged to nominate candidates who have founded or co-founded a project, business or organization in Charlottesville and who have provided a positive example for the region with local, national or global impact. In its first two years, the Founding Cville initiative has generated more than 230 nominations and has awarded 27 individuals. Information on previous award recipients can be found at tomtomfest.com/foundingcville. The 2016 Founding Cville Award recipients will be selected by past award recipients and the Tom Tom Advisory Board. These founders will be honored at an award ceremony during the Tomtoberfest Fall Block Party on Sept. 23 and 24 at Lee Park. Nominations can be submitted at tomtomfest.com/foundingcville and must be received by 11:59 p.m. July 15.
