We are a civic initiative deeply embedded in the greater Charlottesville community. We work to understand our region’s needs, align priorities, and advance coordinated solutions.
Spearheaded by the Tom Tom Foundation and United Way of Greater Charlottesville, Cville Innovates is a catalyst for multi-sector visioning. By bringing together leaders across businesses, nonprofits , academia, and local government, we create space for deeper knowledge—and the conditions for meaningful progress.
Why Collaboration
Matters
Like many other communities, Charlottesville has reached an inflection point. We face rising housing costs, population growth, economic uncertainty, and persistent gaps in opportunity for those who call this region “home”. At the same time, there is incredible energy, talent, and commitment here.
What’s missing isn’t effort. It’s alignment. Cville Innovates connects the people, ideas, and institutions already hard at work on the ground—so that together, we can move forward toward a more vibrant and prosperous tomorrow.

How We Work
Cville Innovates is championed by a core group of cross-sector community leaders. Through roundtables and other public forums, the coalition convenes working groups to make strides toward shared goals. This is how we create a common understanding of where we are and where we need to go.
A core part of this work is building trust and clarity between partners with diverse perspectives. But we know that by strengthening the connective tissue across the region, we can move the dial forward toward a more resilient, thriving community.
