Fall Block Party Entertainment, Food Lineups Announced

The Tom Tom Founders Festival annual Fall Block Party is coming up this weekend.

On Monday, the organization announced the lineup for entertainers and food vendors who will be at the IX Art Park for the two-day event.

GovSmart, one of the fastest-growing firms in Charlottesville that was also picked by Forbes as one of its Most Promising American Companies, is also going to host the event again, though this is the first time the event will take place over two days.

It will feature nearly 100 art, craft, food and drink vendors as well as a variety of musical performances.

Last year’s Fall Block Party attracted more than 6,000 attendees. Continue reading to see a full breakdown of all the musical performances and food vendors.

FRIDAY NIGHT BLOCK PARTY IX Art Park, 5-11pm, September 25th

FRIDAY ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP ● 5:30 PM: Tara Mills ​is a singer and songwriter in Charlottesville, Virginia. Inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the rich musical traditions tied to them, Tara Mills describes her music as, “original blue ridge mountain folk.” ● 6:20 PM: Michael Coleman​exploded onto the Charlottesville music scene in early 2011 with a unique brand of Folk Rock. Rounded off with a voice that is as raw as it is soothing and passionate, Coleman’s music has struck a chord with the people of Charlottesville and beyond. ● 7:40 PM: Disco Risque​has spent the past year trying to take over the world one music lover at a time. Their psychedelic funk music pulls from influences all over the musical spectrum ranging from heavy metal riffs to espionage surfer tunes and everything in-between. ● 8:55 PM: Moonlight Circus and Scintillation​perform tantalizing acrobatics and fire dancing—for years, they have been the premier visual entertainment groups in Charlottesville. They will appear alongside the stage, amazing the crowd while moving to the music. ● 9:10 PM: Galaxy Dynamite​is Virginia’s premier award-winning psychedelic rock band. Galaxy Dynamite has performed more than 400 times delivering their signature blend of furious, frenetic, and absolutely unrelentingly heavy electronic space rock to festivals and clubs around the country.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON BLOCK PARTY IX Art Park, 12-7pm, September 26th

SATURDAY ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP ● 12:00 PM: Nettles ​consists of songs by Guion Pratt set to arrangements loosely based in the British Isles folk tradition. Pratt crafts lyrically driven, melodically rich songs brought to life by a rotating cast of some of Charlottesville, VA’s finest players. ● 1:10 PM: The Moonbees​plays a unique take on Indie Rock, from psych-folk to electric blues and beyond—winning the 17th spot on Sound of RVA’s Top 50 Richmond Albums. ● 2:20 PM: Blake Hunter​is a singer-songwriter who plays folk rock from the heart. His 9 track album “Skylights” has been a hit across Virginia. ● 3:30: The Smiling Islanders​bring to the stage potent and dynamic musicianship and naturally danceable energy in a funky mix of rock-related genres. ● 4:40 PM: Kendall Street Company​’s music is influenced by a variety of musicians and styles, the group has been described as psychedelic, alternative, jammy, rock, indie, and ska. The band performs regularly in Virginia and throughout the East Coast, maintaining a central presence in the Charlottesville area. ● 5:50 PM: The Positive Collective​is a live collaboration of experienced and acclaimed musician Greg Ward and a number of talented musical guests. Vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and producer, Greg Ward has been performing positive music for more than 18 years, playing coast to coast and on two continents.
