Andrew Grabau

In collaboration with our long-time community partners, United Way of Greater Charlottesville, Tom Tom hosted a series of virtual conversations for a weekly exploration into the numerous inequities revealed by Covid-19. Each week, we challenged one another to attempt to answer the critical questions: how did we get here, and where do we go from here?

What is “Inclusive Excellence” and how can this framework help build partnerships for equity in your hometown? For our second conversation, Kevin McDonald, Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, University of Virginia and Andrew Grabau, Executive Director at the United Way, Heart of Missouri explained their efforts to bridge the equity gap at University of Missouri and tether that work to its host city of Columbia, MO.” Created on the heels of the tragic shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO, the design of this framework has dramatic echoes to conversations that are top of mind for many of us today.

See their groundbreaking framework here.
