Nearly 10,000 people came out to the Tomtoberfest in Lee Park this past weekend. The Tom Tom Founders Festival says the fifth annual fall block party was the most successful to date, attracting 9,871 attendees. The free event featured 12 bands, 13 food trucks, and a craft beer garden featuring Virginia brewers. “We are proud that Tom Tom continue celebrating our community by showcasing our leading entrepreneurs, artists and civic leaders in a diverse and family-friendly setting,” said Paul Beyer, TTFF director. More than 80 tech and creative firms participated, as did almost 240 artists and entrepreneurs and 13 student organizations. The event’s success is attributed to great weather, clear idea focus and broad community participation, including 144 University of Virginia students among the 168 volunteers. For 2016, the number of people attending Tom Tom events like concerts, competitions, talks and more has exceeded 48,000.
