On Friday evening, Tomtoberfest kicked off at Lee Park in Charlottesville. The festival celebrates local music, technology, and innovation through a variety of concerts, panels, and exhibits. The festival also includes food trucks, and a giant New Belgium craft beer garden. Four bands took the stage on Friday, and eight more will take the stage on Saturday. Organizers say despite the large focus on music, the ultimate goal is to help the technology companies trying to find their place in Charlottesville. “By highlighting dozens of artists, tech firms, and design firms in the context of something that is really fun, it says a lot about our city, and about the people who want to live here,” said Paul Beyer, Director of the Tom Tom Festival. Saturday’s festivities will begin at noon. Details can be found here.
