If you attended the Block Party and saw the vitality of the attendees, the kids, and the families, it's because this was a free and accessible event in the heart of the city, featuring local performers from many different neighborhoods, all enjoying the Downtown Mall.

All rewards can be picked up at the Tom Tom office on Saturday, April 13th from 9am to 1pm or by visiting the Tom Tom merchandise booth at the Downtown Mall Block Party on 4/19 and 4/20. If your reward includes a T-Shirt you can select your shirt color and size when you visit the Tom Tom office or merchandise booth. This celebration needs YOU and each of US to make it happen.
Each year, 20,000+ people come downtown for this beautiful celebration at a cost to the Tom Tom Foundation. If every attendee were charged admission, we’d be set, but that’s not the party we’re trying to put on! In addition to waiving admission, we also receive no alcohol or concession revenue. We elect to have an ABC permit for the block party in which all food and beverage income is retained by the restaurants, supporting local businesses that still struggle with lingering effects from the pandemic.
Events are not cheap, even when they’re free.
While we receive some generous corporate support, sponsorship only covers about half of our costs. Behind the scenes of this iconic event, expenses add up quickly for things like required police and security presence, liability insurance, A/V equipment, payment for all bands and performers, and more.
Let’s ensure this stays an annual tradition for Charlottesville!
