CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) – Friday is the last day for members of the Charlottesville community to nominate individuals they think have made a difference in the city for an award. Charlottesville’s Tom Tom Festival is seeking nominations for its third annual Founding Cville Award. It is looking for people who have made a lasting impact on the city by simply starting something. The Founding Cville Awards are meant to commemorate outstanding entrepreneurs, artists, and civic leaders in the Charlottesville area who have founded projects and built them from the ground up. Paul Beyer, Tom Tom Festival director, says that oftentimes these individuals don’t get the recognition they deserve. “There’s something about founding something that is difficult and it’s worthy of commendation. And so that’s what these awards are about, is recognizing some of these prime movers and some of the big projects that have really changed our town for the better,” Beyer said. Selected nominees will receive their awards at the Tomtoberfest fall block party in September. Their photos will be displayed on the Downtown Mall and they will receive a cardboard Tom Tom bison trophy. The nominations for the awards close Friday at 11:59 p.m. If there’s someone you want to nominate, you can do so by clicking here.
