Tom Tom Announces Farm to Table Restaurant Week, April 11-­17 3rd Annual Event is presented with Charlottesville Restaurant Week and Features Region’s Best Chefs, Restaurants and Local Ingredients

For the third year, Tom Tom Founders Festival is hosting a city‐wide Farm to Table Restaurant Week from April 11‐17, 2016. This event assembles some of Charlottesville’s finest restaurants and chefs known for their commitment to sourcing locally. Chefs will create a prix fixe dinner menu that emphasizes local artisans and farms.

Charlottesville is a national leader in the locavore movement, a reputation that derives from many years of work and dedication on the part of its farmers and restaurateurs. The Farm‐To‐Table Restaurant Week highlights Charlottesville’s commitment to local ingredients, bringing food enthusiasts from across the mid‐Atlantic.

Brookville—​Brookville Restaurant sources their ingredients from Virginia farmers, foragers, and their chef’s garden to create local and seasonal menus. Citizen Burger Bar—​A favorite on the downtown mall, Citizen Burger Bar serves up delicious burgers with an extensive list of craft brews. Commonwealth Restaurant & Sky Bar—​Commonwealth has a creative take on New American fare with a lively rooftop and library bar. Ivy Inn—​A staple in the Charlottesville community for decades, the Ivy Inn serves local and seasonal fare in a historic setting. Mas Tapas—​A famous destination in the Belmont neighborhood, Mas Tapas has a menu full of Spanish tapas crafted from simple, well‐made ingredients. Oakhart Social—​Oakhart Social has Modern American wood‐fired food for sharing as well as a list of unique cocktails. Orzo Kitchen & Wine Bar—​Inspired by travel, Orzo Kitchen & Wine Bar uses local ingredients to complement the Mediterranean fare. Parallel 38—​Parallel 38 celebrates the food and drink of the 38th latitude, merging ingredients and flavors of areas such as Napa Valley, the Mediterranean and Charlottesville. Red Pump Kitchen—​A Tuscan style restaurant with a classic wood‐burning oven, Red Pump Kitchen incorporates local ingredients in their pastas, antipasti, and entrees. Tavern & Grocery—​Tavern & Grocery, one of the newest additions to the Charlottesville restaurant scene, serves classic tavern dishes and offers certain house‐made items to‐go. The Whiskey Jar—​In addition to 125 whiskeys, classic Southern dishes are featured on The Whiskey Jar’s seasonal menu.

ABOUT TOM TOM FOUNDERS FESTIVAL

The 5th Annual Founders Festival is a week of concerts, talks, competitions and public art that connect hundreds of bands, startups, and visionaries, this April 11‐17 in Charlottesville, Va. Tom Tom is a nonprofit that hosts dozens of events each year to celebrate and empower the founders of creative, civic, and entrepreneurial ventures. In 2015, Tom Tom had attendance of over 26,200, showcased over 400 community organizations, and had an economic impact of $1.5M on the community of Charlottesville.

ABOUT CHARLOTTESVILLE RESTAURANT WEEK

For any diner who has ever dreamed about fine dining without breaking the bank, Restaurant Week is that dream… come true. Modeled on similar events in other cities, this is week of good food and good fun. Diners get to choose from each participating restaurant’s special prix fixe menu and enjoy three courses—typically an appetizer, an entree, and dessert—for just $19, $29 or $39. (Beverages, tax, and gratuity not included.) $1 per meal goes to a local charity the either help fight hunger in our community or to a scholarship fund which helps local students train to work in our local restaurants.
