Co-creating Connections on the Downtown Mall

TAKE A STROLL WITH YOUR NEIGHBOR
It’s quite simple, at sunset come meet on the Downtown Mall and take a lap with someone you may not know. Over the course of an hour, you could walk with five new friends, build meaningful connections, and learn about cool and impactful projects in your hometown.

The Friendship Walks occur monthly on the 2nd Tuesday. We gather at the West Plaza (by the Omni Hotel) at sunset. Following a brief introduction of the co-hosting organizations, individuals pair up and take a walk along the mall. After each lap, you can either continue on another lap or pair up with someone new. This way, everyone has the chance to meet a variety of individuals... and to get deep if you want to!

CO-HOST A WALK
Each FRIENDSHIP WALK is co-hosted with 5+ local organizations. In addition to members of the public signing up, the Friendship Walks connect the board, staff, and key stakeholders of impactful local organizations. This is your chance to make deeper connections throughout the Charlottesville community, and have an opportunity to share your work.
Co-Host Details
Sign up to co-host and bring your crew. There is no financial obligation. Your commitments are simple:

Invite board, staff, and key stakeholders to attend -- ideally bringing 5-10 people!

Nominate 1 person to be part of the “Welcome” at the start of the walk and tell your organization’s story.

Bring a banner or marketing material that talks about your organization

Be a cohost on the Facebook Event and Share with your networks

The Walks help by enhancing community engagement, building stronger local networks, and raising general community awareness among the public. The Walks also provide your team with a unique opportunity to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and build bridges with other organizations.
Relational Capital
Amidst the introductions and conversations, our hope is that deeper collaboration can begin to occur between organizations. Because the Walks bring together the leadership, board, and staff of key organizations, it spurs dialogue deep within and between organizations about shared missions and passions.
