The 11th Annual Tom Tom Festival was truly one for the books. Our theme of FUTURE FORWARD was all about turning dreams into action and you showed up! Block parties, marching bands, conferences, entrepreneur showcases, open houses, thoughtful gatherings, lots of dancing, and so much togetherness. We told a story of what Charlottesville can be.
THANK YOU for another incredible year of unity, inspiration, and connection to help build a brighter tomorrow.
DREAMS INTO ACTION!
MINORITY BUSINESS GRANT
At the Block Party, United Way of Greater Charlottesville launched the ENVISION Minority Enterprise Business Grants Program, with support from the Albemarle County and City of Charlottesville Offices of Economic Development, offering over $140,000 of affordable capital for minority-owned businesses. Apply here.
AN ANGEL ACADEMY
A panel hosted with Venture Central posited the idea of a regional angel investing academy that will launch in the coming months. National estimates suggest investors in the US are 87% White and 78% male. This Academy will help the region diversify its founder and funder networks.
RE-ENTRY SERVICES
Tom Tom continued to support the efforts of the Fountain Fund with a charette on Financial Access, sponsoring the “One Stop Shop” which offers services to the formerly incarcerated, and hosting Jail Tours and conversations on restorative justice.
The impacts aren’t complete. If you’ve got a story or an idea for next year, share it with us!
